✅ Camphor Wood Base: APIBUZZ primarily uses camphor wood to make its anti-wax moth strips. It naturally contains volatile oils (camphor) known to repel or intoxicate wax moths.
✅ Research suggests that camphor wood, combined with special ingredients, attracts and disables wax moth larvae.
✅ It appears likely that the bee strips will be straightforward to use with the help of toothpicks.
✅ The evidence suggests that the product is good for the environment and safe for bees. However, its efficacy may change depending on the hive conditions.
Product Description
APIBUZZ hive wax moth treatment wooden strips come in a 10-unit pack. They help protect beehives from wax moth infestation, which is a common problem for beekeepers. We use these strips, which mostly consist of camphor wood with certain unique substances added, to lure wax moth larvae.
Once the moths chew on the strips, they suffer from indigestion and slowed movement, making them vulnerable to removal by the hive's worker bees. This treatment helps stop problems like bald brood, deformed pupae, and damage to stored combs and hive materials. This protects the brood cells and food source of your apiary.
How it Works:
Attracts: The gentle aroma of camphor wood pulls hungry wax moth larvae out of hiding.
Disabling: When larvae bite the strip, their digestive tracts become upset, and they slow down.
Remove: Your active guard bees see the slow-moving larvae and carry them away.

Proper Application in the Hive:
Placement: Hang the strip with a thin wire or toothpick through its hole from the top bar or between the frames of the brood box.
▶ In top-bar or horizontal hives, suspend the strip above the cluster or in the mid-comb path. In Langstroth hives, it can hang just below the cluster.
▶ In all cases, ensure it is within the bees' foraging area so that guard bees can monitor it.
One Strip per Colony: Use only one strip per 10-frame hive. The packet contains 10 strips for 10 hives.
▶ One strip is sufficient to protect your bee colony for roughly a year under normal conditions
▶ Do not overcrowd the hive with extra strips; excess chemicals could irritate bees or create unwanted residues.
Hive Preparation: Before inserting the strip, thoroughly clean the hive of loose wax flakes and debris.
Wax moth larvae prefer to live in dark and cluttered conditions. If you remove old comb scraps, the larvae will be more likely to find and eat the strip instead. Make sure you have enough healthy honey bee colonies. Enough guarding bees will be present to deal with the affected moth larvae.
Time of Use: As a precaution, use the strips at the beginning of the growing season. Or any time you need to rebuild after a honey harvest.
The full effect usually takes 1-2 weeks of continuous exposure (larvae gently slow and disappear). The strip stays active for many months, up to a year. Replace it every year, or if you notice signs of wax moths reappearing.
